Emotional Happiness

Emotions are part of human nature and effect in a big way on how people think and act in different times and situations they are in.

Time is a continuous change. The future arrives faster than the moment that passed by. The ever-changing social life, widening generation gaps, and of course, the economic conditions lead to a major change in one’s thoughts and behavior. Emotions can be balanced by self-awareness and self-appreciation.

HAPPINESS is a positive emotional reflection of how you feel about yourself, your experience, and your reaction. Happiness is a changeable state which is both internal and external feelings. We all want to be happy. Happiness comes in different forms--- for some it may be a good family, good relationships, good food, good health, good social life, good news, the birth of a baby, getting a job, achievements, money, and so on.

Some are happier than others. Why? – Genetics do play a role in some being happy. Some are happy due to the choices they make. Some train themselves to be happy.

Question yourself. When was I happy? Now, or a couple of hours ago, or a day ago?

How to make yourself happy? When feeling low, try to divert your thoughts to simpler things that make you feel good. For example, you may think of a beautiful attire you bought recently on even in the remote past. Walk up to your wardrobe, spend a couple of hours to reorganize it. This brings you a lot of memories, which makes you reminiscent of the time and situation you bought these. The thoughts will keep you happy for a long time.

OR

When your siblings visit you, take some time to peep into your photo albums. A lot of memories rush in and in the process, you tend to have a happy chat.

Imagine this the best day ever. Feel the inner energy flowing which activates the physical energy. Take the advantage of the enthusiasm you would feel that day. At the end of the day think of at least 3 good things that happened that day. Even on bad days, you can think of a couple of things that went well. This helps you to develop a feeling that events happened are not completely bad.

Happiness grows in your garden. Story of two women who were happy in what they did and what they had.

One sold flowers and one sold fish. One evening when they missed the boat to go back to their village, they slept in their friend’s cottage. They kept their baskets in a corner away from themselves. They were unable to sleep for a long time. Then they took their respective baskets and kept under their heads. Now they could sleep well by the smell they got from their baskets.
